2014 AUDI TT SPORTBACK CONCEPT

strip_tt-sportback-concept

Another piece of the TT family, some variation for the 4-door of course, more elegant, more fluent.

2014 AUDI TT 3rd Generation

strip_tt3

What an honor... the 1st generation TT was the reason I studied design and I wanted to work for Audi. Creating the 3rd Generation Interior was absolutely amazing, it took some years, but the result is revolutionary in design, functionality and innovation

2014 AUDI ALLROAD SHOOTING BRAKE CONCEPT

2013 AUDI SPORT QUATTRO CONCEPT

strip_sport-quattro-concept

Koordination of a great team inside audi design to get this beautiful sporty interior done for the IAA 2013. The lightweight carbon details and the precise design language have been a lot of work but a lot of fun as well...

2011 AUDI Q3 INTERIOR

NEIGHBOURHOOD

neighbour01

views you get used to, when you drive by every day, but when you know that you'll have to leave soon, those corners suddenly get interesting again, even if it´s just the liquor-store next door...

COUNTYLINE SURFIN

countyline

countyline often is very nice for a surf, not toooo crowded like malibu, no localism, and just a 40min drive from santa monica. this day, the waves were fun, and after the surf, neptunes net is a must, enjoying seafood and a bud while watching the bikers showing off on their harleys...

ULLI RIPPIN MAILBU WAVES

ullibu

malibu aka surfrider is always nice for a surf on the weekend, when the air is clear, you can see avalon, the island used also by the military, and the santa monica pier, sometimes the power plant buildings at manhattan beach which is 40 minutes from malibu.

GRIFFITH PARK

griffith

another must...griffith park and the nice observatory, high above hollywood. beswt before sunset or after sunrise, when the light is the best and the place is not too crowded.

WHALEWTCHING

whalewatch

even if we didn´t see any whales, was a nice experience, heading north to big sur. stayin in one of those little quiet scenic rooms, where there´s nothing around except nature, sea and the pch, we enjoyed one night of silence, compared to the reggae sounds of carribean cha cha chicken restaurant near my place in santa monica.... check out tghe seals-beach and also the nice beaches of the so called "unisurfity" of ca near oxnard, they have private beaches.... f.... hell, and student´s apartments right next to the beaches!

SURFTRIP

surftrip01

collection of pictures taken on our surftrips: manhattan beach, neptunes net, paradise cove and malibu surfrider. everywhere along the pch, there´s a spot with good waves, and to stay informed all the time, locals have a look at: www.surfline.com, magicseaweed.com or http://www.watchthewater.org/beach_views.cfm

MORRO BAY

morrobay

having a few days off, we went pch north to morro bay, a nice trip through santa barbara and ventura. a lot of shops in santa barbara, and a lot of wind too, finally we came to morro bay, a little village at the seaside, beautiful beach, touristic rock, and a powerplant beside, that does not appear on any postcards...

ULLIS VISIT

ullivisit01

first visit of ulli, a wonderful time with a lot of new impressions and nice short trips on weekends, a lot of surfing, sun and everydaylife in los angeles....

FALL COMING TO SANTA MONICA

foggy02

almost unreal mood at that morning, was supposed to be a regular ride to work and turned out as a scenic adventure of light, shadow, fog. no wonder why film industry is settled right here and where environmental designers get there inspiration from... like patrick, working with me.... check out his homepage http://www.patrickfaulwetter.com

MALIBU BESIDE SURFING

malibu02

yes, there IS a malibu beside surfing, even if it´s not a city, more a place to hide for the rich people... but beside those secret villas, there are nice details just at every corner, worth having a look at in your lunchbreak, maybe at the malibu inn, but i prefer the jewish burgers below the surf shack - shop. and after getting some organic snack at pacific coast greens you could check out becker´s surfshop, originally from hermosa beach, existing since 1976 and shaping awesome nice boards! it´s just over the bridge of the lagoon, a nice location between the parkinglot behind the bridge and the lagoon, a small beach and behind the fence: the "secret" surfspot, everybody knows already...

POMONA 01

pomona01

the pomona swap meet is the 8 time a year meeting for car enthusiasts west of los angeles, just half an hour from downtown. a huge space of thousands of old cars, parts and weird stuff, starts at 5pm and it´s good to be there early, first, because it takes you hours to get through all the stuff and second: the light in the morning is amazing for photography! check out: http://www.pomonaswapmeet.com/future_events.php

SHOPS AT NIGHT ON MAINSTREET 01

nightshop01

funny things you can see, when you take a closer look while walking on main street at night, when all the beaches, sunsets, cars and colors on the street turn to black and grey, then it´s time for details, and there are morer than my sd card can afford!!! the small selection of pics is just done in 15minutes between maybe 3 blocks....

MULHOLLAND 02

mulholland02

a must...mulholland drive plus highway is 80miles long and goes from hollywood to pch. just did a part, enough for half a day. nice view on la and downtown at the east of it, lots of bikers and sportscars. more to the east, road is closed, its more a path for hikers and bikers, and mulholland highway is bending through all the canyons and the rocky environment, passing some parks and recreational areas. i have to to that cruise in the afternoon and befire sunset again..!

SUNSET 01

sunset01

no matter where you are when sunsets in la, the light everytime is amazing. and watching people surf in the evening is only topped by surfing yourself, looking the sun going down and watching the whole scene from a total different perspective when you´re ON the water instead of walking the beach....but watch out, for at some places, the scene gets a little bit sketchier in the late evening....

MALIBUSURF

malibusurf01

so, i did it and went surfing to malibu. and satoshi was right when he said: "wave, there, alsmost pa-he-fekt"! not to compare with santa monica, manhattan or venice, but even more crowded, but hey, i didn´t feel rough localism there, even if i´m more a rookie. nice people, dropped in their wave, no problem, a smile, a chat and looking for the next wave coming along...

FOGGY SUNDAY

foggy01

yes, sun isn´t always shining, especially in the beach areas. but still warm, flip-flop temperature, let´s say... drivin downtown or even more east, probably sun was shining and about 90°F. i just start thinkin in °F, swell in feet, and "taking the next right" in yards.... to be honest, i tried to setup german for car navigation-language, but it´s just not available... so i´m forced to, that´s good...
foggy, yes, it was, all the way from manhattan beach, lax, santa monica to malibu, but nice atmoshpere anyway.

AL MERRICK

almerrick

ever seen an al merrick for 100 bugs...?? here it is, extremely used, of course, fixed some wholes last week, some others where fixed before, using green(!) stuff, but on top, looks quite nice, after i took off all the ol wax and sanded it by hand. ok, it IS small, thats why it got already a 7´2" brother ( have look at pch cruisin 01, it just fits perfectly in the q7..), who visited malibu today and was very pleased about the waves there.....

3RD STREET PROMENADE AT NIGHT

thirdstreet01

3rd street promenade in santa monica, basically for shopping, but for good food as well, and there´s a mac-store too! get some "organic" food (whatever that means...) in famima, asian style stuff, ready to eat or to go, sushi in the evening in a box, just 7$...tastes great! there´s an amazing bookstore at the end of 3rd, forgot the name, i have to get there and every night you meet "artists", people entertaining, dancing, makin music and selling their cd´s, little girls of 5 singin and actin like a diva...

PCH cruisin 01

pch01

nice lazy sunday, good to go for a cruise on pch, just right out of the door, head into ocean ave and i´m on pch, cruisin till sunset. at neptunes net, don´t miss the seafood, watch the surfers and when going back to santa monica, make a lot of stops, sit a while, enjoy the sea breeze. while drivin, switch through all the radio stations and get in the right mood, from jazz to oldschool acdc rock...you´ll find something. pay attention to the reflections of the surrounding, and light at sunset gets amazing!

RED MOOD

redmood

just when you walk around, ther´s so many stuff. cars, flowers, cars, beach, cars and cars... it´s pretty nice walking through venice, where abbott kinney is painted an the huge wall, when sun sets it gets already cooler but always nice to have a look at the beach when it happens.

AMERICA´s BRAVEST

911

911 is just 7 years ago, ocasionally found this truck in a parking lot in venice, probably no fires now, so they went surfin? pretty cool thing and huge like hell. nice details and always tha t clean!

MUSTANG 4 EVER

mustang01

occasionally went by the mustang meeting (4 times a year) at the santa monica pier, while i was enjoying my neighborhood in the morning. what sshould i say, lots of cool old cars, american style, most mustangs, gt40s, camaros and a lot of cobras, most with an originally signed interior of carroll shelby himself. maybe another collection of that stuff coming...

CALI ... finally arrived

sm01

so, now i arrived safely in santa monica, first week very busy, organizing things, some don´t work, but easieeeee.... got a nice apartment, near the beach, now have to get a board, and a bike. the studio is cool and so is work, even if it´s a lot to do! but it´s nicer knowing you can watch the surfers at the beach when coming home than the rathaus in ingolstadt... so some impressions of the neighbourhood in santa monica, more coming soon..the only thing missing here is ulli, but just some weeks left....

BIKEN ANGERERALM 2008

angereralm2008

NEW YORK part II

ny2

the musts of classic new york: visit the empire state building, amazing view, really! go to the guggenheim, the moma, the rockefeller center, flatiron building near union square, ... and all the other "classics".. don´t visit the statue of liberty, not worth doin´that!
we recommend: take a break in the beautiful bryant park, that´s nice, walk through grand central station, visit one or two of new yorks churches, feels like in europe. go to columbus circle and take a picture like the beastie boys.... go to noho, soho, greenwich village and harlem, where the underground train gets an overground train, there you can see the old construction of 1904 or so. take a ride through brooklyn, and most important: WALK over brooklyn bridge (1.8km), 100 times better than driving...

NEW YORK part I

ny01

amazing city! the musts of the modern part: apple store near central park, hudson hotel (58th street), "designed" by philip starck, is worth to stay there! in lower east side/east village, visit the "forbidden planet comic store" if you´re addicted to comix and stuff..! take lunch/dinner at the eatery (9th ave?), rent a bike for one day (go to 8th ave, pay not more than 25 dollars!), take a ride through central park to the hudson river, down to downtown and through greenwich village, go back uptown in the middle of rush hour on broadway or so, thats fun! avoid the abercrombie store, it´s just loud and employees are just good looking models without any clue.... WALK through new york as much as you can, but take the opportunity once or twice to go by subway-trains. if you are a jazz fan, don´t expect too much of the birdland.... the food is good but the glory days are gone....! visit ground zero and think about it one minute, how it looked before 2001. avoid starbucks and take the opportunity to try better ones like europan e.g.. take a romantic dinner at the boathouse in centralpark, if you want to get married, ask right there...:-) !

MAROKKO 2008

marokko2008

2 amazing weeks at the ENDO SURF camp in tamraght, 20km north of agadir. nice swell, nice weather, nice people, nice atmosphere in the camp-house....and a lot of kreuzkümmel in your food..! things to do: a pizza in taghazout, surfin at banana point before sunrise, day trip to essaouira, bike trip to aourir, meet gerrit....
